Business Model:

First Data Corporation is a provider of debt collection services for merchants, financial institutions, and card issuers worldwide. First Data was founded in 1971 as a privately-held corporation. It is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1980 it became part of American Express, then in 1992 separated from AmEx. First Data became publically traded in 2015.

First Data Merchant Services is a subsidiary.

In 2015, CEO Bisignano earned $51 million including $44 million in stocks, a $1.5 million salary, and a $5 million bonus. He was the cause of a million dollar settlement for breaching his employment contract with former employer JP Morgan. He is also the subject of a patent infringement lawsuit.
