Benjamin W. Navarro, Founder and CEO (Sherman Financial Group, LLC
)
Jake Jones, Senior Director of Compliance and Ethics Contact

Business Model:

Debt-buying consumer collections company. After serving as Citicorp's Vice President for mortgage sales and trading from 1988 to 1997, Benjamin Navarro founded Sherman Financial Group, LLC in 1998. Sherman's major subsidiaries include Alegis Group, Capital Management Services LP, Sherman Acquisitions LP, LVNV Funding LLCResurgent Capital Services LP, SFG Technologies, Inc., Credit One Financial Solutions, Marble Arch Home Loans,  and Ventus Capital Services.

Sherman is a privately held company and is one of the largest distressed consumer debt buyers in the country - if not the world. It's status as a private company shields Sherman and its subsidiaries from public scrutiny and the exent and profitability of its operations are largely uknown. Navarro's wife, however, was able to bid $340,000 for a decrepit lighthouse in Connecticut. Many consumers first learn of Resurgent when they are sued by subsidiary LVNV Funding LLC for a debt originally (and allegedly) owed to a different creditor.

* Ranking determined by the overall number of debt collection complaints to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) as of year-end 2015 and should be considered in context of company size and/or market share. See the CFPB debt collection complaint database in real-time here
