Business Model: 

CCS Financial Services, Inc. was founded in 1982 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It was formerly known as The Check Cashing Store, Inc. (also Check Mart of Florida) It changed its name to CCS Financial Services, Inc. in June 2001. It offers payday loans; check cashing services, such as payroll and personal checks, money orders, income tax refunds, social security checks, supplemental security income checks, and unemployment and company checks; cash for gold, and may accept payments for traffic citations and utility bills – all for a convenience fee. As of December 15, 2007, CCS Financial Services, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of DFC Global Corporation (which was bought by Lone Star Funds in 2014).  

Florida Power and Light customers were erroneously charged double the normal convenience fee when making utility payments through The Check Cashing Store.
