Community Choice Financial (CCF) was founded in 2011 and is privately-held. It provides alternative financial products and services for customers who do not have bank accounts or who are under-served by traditional banking institutions. CCF offers short-term and medium-term consumer loans, check cashing, prepaid debit cards, money transfers, bill payments, money orders, international and domestic prepaid phone cards, tax preparation, auto insurance, and motor vehicle registration services.

CEO Ted Saunders accused the U.S. Department of Justice of an abuse of power for regulating check cashing businesses.
