Yes, banks sometimes deny fraud claims even when the transactions look nothing like the customer’s normal spending.
That is one of the most frustrating things about these cases. Maybe you normally use your debit card for groceries, gas, and ordinary household expenses. Then suddenly your account shows a huge restaurant charge in another town, dozens of online gaming purchases, or ATM withdrawals that bear no resemblance to the way you normally use your account.
The bank may still respond with language like “no error occurred,” “the transactions were authorized,” or “we investigated and found no fraud.”
But the bank saying that does not make the surrounding facts disappear. Your normal spending habits, the location of the transactions, the amounts, the frequency, and the overall pattern can all matter when trying to figure out what really happened.
