If your bank tells you that it is replacing a compromised debit card, it is natural to believe the old card will no longer be useful for fraudulent activity.
That is why it can be so disturbing to see another transaction associated with the old card after you have already reported the fraud and been told a replacement is coming.
Exactly how a later transaction was processed can matter, and the transaction records may need to be examined before drawing conclusions.
But if your story is “I reported the card compromised, the bank replaced it, and then the old card apparently worked again,” I would want to understand exactly what happened.
