That is exactly the question you should be asking.
Maybe you received an alert, called immediately, and told the bank that somebody was trying to use your debit card. Then you received another notification showing that a fraudulent transaction actually succeeded.
From your perspective, you already raised the alarm. So it is completely reasonable to want to know what happened between your warning and the successful transaction.
The answer may depend on the timing, the type of transaction, the bank’s systems, and what action was actually taken after your call.
